What's Going On?

March 14-21, 2010

To Help You Plan

Good Friday, April 2 - Service time - 7:00 p.m.

Easter Sunday, April 4 - Three identical services - 7:45, 9:15 & 10:45 a.m. (Children’s activities available for all 3 services.)

Coming Up This Sunday, March 21, 2010

Sunday Morning - 8:00, 9:15 & 10:45 a.m. - We’re almost to the halfway point in our study of The Sermon On The Mount (Matthew 5-7) in a series called Radical. This Sunday, Pastor Jeff is teaching on Giving (Matthew 6:1-4). In this passage, Jesus shows us how to practice a better way to give and go after a much better reward. We hope you can join us as we worship together.

Life Groups At Cherry Hills

Our Life Groups are currently in week 9 with one more week to go in this first session of the year. If you're currently in a group, you'll be receiving a survey this week that will ask if you plan to stay in your group, try a different group, or take a break. We plan to take a few weeks off and then a new eight week session will begin April 18th. We hope that registration for the 2nd session of Life Groups will begin on Sunday, March 28th. You'll hear more about this in the next few weeks. If you are not currently in a group, you'll have the opportunity to register for an existing group (if there are openings) or for a new group that will be forming for the 2nd session.

We are continually hearing how the Sunday message is being applied to people's lives and how they are growing as disciples. We're also hearing how groups are caring for each other, and learning to Love One Another. We hope you will start planning now to be part of the second session of Life Groups and our continuing study of The Sermon on the Mount. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Brian (546-4818).

Wildlife Banquet

The Men’s Wildlife Banquet will be held here at the church on Friday, March 26th at 6:00 p.m. This has become one of our biggest outreach events! Reservation forms are available at the Ministry Center.

In addition to needing more deer meat, we also need about 40 volunteers to help before, during and after the event. If you can help or would like more information, contact Cliff Clement (341-1419).

Café On The Rock

The entire church family (& friends) are invited to Café on the Rock on Thursday, March 25th, for an evening filled with good food and even better fellowship. The café will be serving food from 5:30- 8:00 p.m. Anyone is welcome at anytime. We are serving Pepperoni Pizza with four drinks for $5. Please join us!

Youth Benefit Dinner Theater

The youth drama team is presenting another dinner theater to raise funds for summer camps and mission trips. Performances are set for April 16-18 and costs are: $12 for adults and $8 for children, Friday and Saturday night performances start at 6:30 p.m., and Sunday lunch starts at 12:30 p.m. Tickets available starting this Sunday.

Mission Trip Opportunity

You’re invited to be part of a team serving with Hope For The First Nations at White Earth Reservation in Waubun, MN this summer. They will be working on the Austin’s House project June 5-13. The cost is $725. Applications and additional information are available at www.hopeforthefirstnations.com. The Cherry Hills contacts for the mission trip are Patty Papp (789-9680) and Shaun Hill (793-1255).

Scholarship Time!

Cherry Hills feels it is important to encourage our college students to be salt and light on their campuses. The Nelsen scholarship annually awards students for maintaining a Christ-centered lifestyle and becoming an active part of a campus Christian organization or local church ministry. This scholarship is open to any full-time college student entering their junior or senior year.

Cherry Hills also feels it is important to encourage and support students who have been called to full-time Christian service, such as pastoral or missionary service. The Christian Service Scholarship is open to college juniors or seniors, graduate students, or individuals attending specific service training programs.

All scholarship applicants must be members of Cherry Hills, and students may not receive both scholarships. Application forms--which include more information--are available here: Nelsen and Christian Service. All application materials must be submitted to the church office no later than March 31, 2010.

If you would like to help our college students by designating a monetary gift to either of these two scholarship funds, please feel free to do so.

Traffic Alert

Now that we have a new Chatham Road entrance, the county has removed the barricade at our Woodside Road entrance. Please use extra caution when pulling out onto Woodside Road. Oncoming traffic will be traveling at up to 55 MPH in all directions. We can no longer assume a west-bound car in the right lane is turning into the church.

Do not pull into a lane of traffic unless you have plenty of clearance and room to increase your speed.

Men's Open Gym Basketball

Men (college age and up), if you like exercise and play basketball, please join us on Sunday afternoons at the Rock (2:30-4:00 p.m.) for pick-up basketball in the multi-purpose room at The Rock. Non-competetive, we're just there to fellowship, exercise and have fun. Every Sunday unless otherwise announced. Questions? Please call Pastor Steve.
