March 2-9, 2010
Coming Up This Sunday, March 14, 2010
Sunday Morning - 8:00, 9:15 & 10:45 a.m. - We continue our study in The Sermon On The Mount (Matthew 5-7) in a series called Radical. This Sunday, Pastor Jeff is teaching on Divorce (Matthew 5:31-37). In this passage, Jesus deals with this very sensitive, complex yet important subject—as timely today as it was in Jesus’ day. We hope you can join us as worship together.
Cherry Hills Meals Ministry Team
At Cherry Hills one of the ways we Love One Another is through our Care Ministry Teams. We are able to reach out to people in the church family and offer encouragement, help and support in a variety of situations. We currently have opportunities to serve with our Meals Ministry Team. If you would be willing to occasionally prepare and deliver a meal, please contact Susan Jamison in the church office (susan@cherryhillsfamily.org or 546-4818, ext. 103).
OK Club Monthly Potluck
All seniors and retirees are invited to join us for the “Older Kids” Club luncheon on Friday, March 12th at noon. We meet in Room E201 at the church. This month’s program is Don Palmer. Don was in the 4th Beach Battalion, U.S. Navy, during WWII. He’ll share his experiences including the invasions of Sicily & Salerno, Italy. Bring a dish to share. For more information, contact Dave Herren (638-7180).
Cherry Hills Men’s Chorus Looking For a Few Good Men
“Enlistment lines are open and He wants you to come in, He just needs a few good men.” So goes a line in the Gaither Vocal Band song. Likewise, the Cherry Hills Men’s Chorus is looking for a few—or several good men who enjoy singing and praising God. Men’s Chorus is back, and singing in all three services on April 11th. Our first gathering kicks off with a breakfast served by a few of our good men on Saturday, March 20th in Room E201, at 8:00 a.m., with rehearsal to follow from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Additional rehearsals will be held on Saturdays, April 3rd and 10th, both at 9:00 a.m. Men’s Chorus is always a great time of fellowship, and an opportunity to praise the greatness and power of our Savior. Stand up and be counted with the Cherry Hills Men’s Chorus!
Wildlife Banquet
The Men’s Wildlife Banquet will be held here at the church on Friday, March 26th at 6:00 p.m. This has become one of our biggest outreach events! Reservation forms are available at the Ministry Center.
As far as donations, we are in need of deer meat. If you can help or would like more information, contact Cliff Clement (341-1419) or Josh Siterlet (494-1752).
In addition, if you would be able to drive the church van to transport men from the Salvation Army, please contact Marcy Rayot (483-4991).
Scholarship Time!
Cherry Hills feels it is important to encourage our college students to be salt and light on their campuses. The Nelsen scholarship annually awards students for maintaining a Christ-centered lifestyle and becoming an active part of a campus Christian organization or local church ministry. This scholarship is open to any full-time college student entering their junior or senior year.
Cherry Hills also feels it is important to encourage and support students who have been called to full-time Christian service, such as pastoral or missionary service. The Christian Service Scholarship is open to college juniors or seniors, graduate students, or individuals attending specific service training programs.
All scholarship applicants must be members of Cherry Hills, and students may not receive both scholarships. Application forms--which include more information--are available here: Nelsen and Christian Service. All application materials must be submitted to the church office no later than March 31, 2010.
If you would like to help our college students by designating a monetary gift to either of these two scholarship funds, please feel free to do so.
Traffic Alert
Now that we have a new Chatham Road entrance, the county has removed the barricade at our Woodside Road entrance.
Please use extra caution when pulling out onto Woodside Road. Oncoming traffic will be traveling at up to 55 MPH in all directions. We can no longer assume a west-bound car in the right lane is turning into the church.
Do not pull into a lane of traffic unless you have plenty of clearance and room to increase your speed.
Men's Open Gym Basketball
Men (college age and up), if you like exercise and play basketball, please join us on Sunday afternoons at the Rock (2:30-4:00 p.m.) for pick-up basketball in the multi-purpose room at The Rock. Non-competetive, we're just there to fellowship, exercise and have fun. Every Sunday unless otherwise announced. Questions? Please call Pastor Steve.
