On Sunday, October 4 (6–8pm), Pastor Steve is hosting our second Thinking Biblically About…. forum where he will be addressing the topic: Thinking Biblically about...How Christians should respond to Gender Dysphoria. Gender dysphoria refers to the distress, discomfort, or anguish a person may experience because of a disconnect between their gender identity and their biological sex. For some, this distress may lead them to identify as transgender and pursue social, medical, or surgical steps to transition.
To be clear, this forum is not intended to debate whether changing one’s sex is biblical. Cherry Hills holds to the biblical teaching that God created humanity male and female, and we remain committed to a biblical sexual ethic. Instead, our focus will be on a different question: How should Christians respond to individuals experiencing gender dysphoria in a way that reflects both the truth of God’s Word and the compassion of Christ?
Here’s what you can expect: The forums will consist of a 30–45-minute teaching from stage where the topic will be presented, then we will break out into table groups for further discussion with guided questions. These discussions will have some “rules” to them, but our hope is these table groups will help us grow in our ability to disagree (or agree) with civility, humility, and love and listen to other people’s perspectives.
If you’re interested in attending, please register HERE. Childcare is provided.
